South Texas Spirits & Cigar Festival Returns to Victoria for 2026

There are whiskey tastings, and then there are events where somebody apparently looked at a whiskey tasting and thought, needs more cigars.

The South Texas Spirits & Cigar Festival returns to Victoria on Saturday, October 17, 2026, bringing more than 400 spirits, beers, wines, and cigars together under one roof at the Victoria Community Center.

This year's festival takes a little inspiration from the Prohibition era, pairing premium spirits with cigars, food, and a darker speakeasy-style atmosphere. VIP guests get an hour-long head start beginning at 4 p.m., while general admission opens at 5 p.m. The festival continues until 9 p.m.

For whiskey drinkers, though, the real attraction is pretty simple: there is going to be a lot to taste.

More Than 400 Samples and 75 Vendors

The South Texas Spirits & Cigar Festival isn't exclusively a whiskey event.

That's actually part of the appeal.

More than 75 vendors are expected, representing a collection of spirits, beer, wine, and cigars. Organizers advertise more than 400 samples, giving guests an opportunity to bounce between categories instead of spending the entire evening drinking variations of brown liquor.

Not that there's anything wrong with spending an evening drinking variations of brown liquor.

Whiskey fans can expect opportunities to explore different producers and styles, while the broader selection makes this a good festival to attend with someone whose drinking interests don't necessarily begin and end with bourbon.

Rare and allocated spirits will also be available for purchase during the event. Exactly what will be available hasn't been announced, so I wouldn't arrive expecting any particular bottle. Still, the opportunity to find something unusual adds another reason to wander the vendor tables.

Cigars Are Part of the Main Event

Unlike festivals where cigars feel like an afterthought, they're one of the central pieces of this one.

The festival includes an outdoor covered cigar lounge, with premium cigars available on-site from participating vendors.

Whiskey and cigars have been sharing tables for a very long time, and there's a reason the pairing remains popular. Both reward slowing down and paying attention. Barrel char, oak, baking spice, sweetness, tobacco, earth, and smoke can either play nicely together or spend an hour fighting for your attention.

Finding the right combination is part of the fun.

Just remember that a cigar can dramatically change how you perceive a whiskey. If you're trying a particularly interesting pour for the first time, tasting it before lighting up isn't a bad idea.

Consider it scientific procedure.

Food, Atmosphere and a Little Prohibition-Era Style

Gourmet food trucks will be on-site throughout the evening, which is especially welcome at an event involving several hours of spirits tasting.

The organizers are also leaning into a Prohibition-era theme for 2026. Expect low-light, speakeasy-inspired atmosphere rather than a fluorescent convention hall full of folding tables.

You don't need to arrive dressed like you just finished a meeting with Al Capone, but the theme gives the festival a little personality beyond simply moving from booth to booth with a tasting glass.

VIP vs. General Admission

There are three ticket options for 2026.

VIP admission is $149.99 and gets you into the festival at 4 p.m., one full hour before general admission. VIP guests also receive an exclusive gift bag and have the opportunity to explore the festival during a quieter first hour.

For anyone serious about talking with producers, asking questions, or getting to popular tasting tables before the room fills up, that extra hour could be valuable.

General admission is $74.99, with entry beginning at 5 p.m. GA guests receive access to the festival and its 400-plus advertised samples through 9 p.m.

There's also a $29.99 Designated Driver ticket.

And I genuinely like seeing that option.

Designated drivers receive unlimited non-alcoholic beverages while retaining access to the festival atmosphere. If you're attending with a group and someone volunteers to get everyone home safely, buy that person dinner. Possibly several dinners.

And if wandering around a spirits festival with a tasting glass has somehow made you realize your wardrobe needs more whiskey-related nonsense, visit the Texas Whiskey Geek Merch Store. Purchases help support independent whiskey reviews, event coverage, distillery visits, and the continued questionable decision to maintain a calendar of seemingly every whiskey event in Texas.
