Shrimp & Cocktails Takes Over Chapline Distillery for August
Chapline Distillery has developed a habit of finding reasons to get people together.
This month, apparently, the answer is shrimp.
On Saturday, August 22, 2026, Chapline Distillery in Bulverde hosts Shrimp & Cocktails, its special event for August featuring food, cocktails, live music, discounted bottles, and a rare-bottle silent auction—all while supporting the American GI Forum.
The event runs from 1 to 3 p.m.
Shrimp, Cocktails and Cheesecake
Guests will receive a meal along with two specialty cocktails created for the event.
Dessert comes from Carmen's Cheesecakes, while live music provides the soundtrack for the afternoon.
Chapline will also offer 25% off bottles throughout the day, so there's a reasonably good chance the bottle you didn't intend to buy when you arrived will somehow follow you home.
There will also be a rare-bottle silent auction, giving whiskey collectors another reason to pay attention.
More Than a Whiskey Event
Shrimp & Cocktails is being held in partnership with the Knights of Columbus and will benefit the American GI Forum.
That charitable connection feels particularly appropriate at Chapline.
Founder Mike Chapline served in the U.S. Navy working on nuclear submarines before eventually making the transition from nuclear engineering to distilling.
Military history remains a major part of the distillery's identity. Chapline releases only single-barrel whiskeys, with many expressions named in honor of prominent Navy ships and submarines.
Turns out going from nuclear submarines to making whiskey isn't the most obvious career progression.
Mike makes it seem fairly reasonable.
Chapline's Monthly Gatherings
Shrimp & Cocktails is part of a larger pattern at Chapline Distillery.
The Bulverde distillery regularly hosts special monthly events, giving its community another reason to return beyond simply stopping in for a whiskey tasting.
That community atmosphere is a major part of the Chapline experience.
On an ordinary weekend, you might find regulars gathered around the tasting room, live music outside, somebody playing chess, and occasionally food being served simply because somebody decided everyone should probably eat.
The monthly events take that atmosphere and turn things up a little.
For August, that means shrimp, cocktails, cheesecake, music, discounted whiskey, and raising some money for a good cause.
Not a bad Saturday.
