McMurtry is celebrated for his fierce storytelling, powerful songwriting, and gritty live shows. Backed by longtime bandmates Daren Hess, Cornbread, and Tim Holt, his music cuts deep into American life — a craft honed since his childhood when his father, novelist Larry McMurtry, handed him his first guitar.
