Bladnoch Single Malt Scotch Masterclass & Dinner

Nine Bladnoch expressions in one night.

That is either a masterclass or a very specific personality test.

On Friday, October 16, Whiskey Crusaders is hosting a Bladnoch Single Malt Scotch Masterclass & Dinner at the Whiskey Castle in Hurst, Texas. The evening will be led by North American Brand Ambassador Jamie MacKenzie and will explore a broad range of Bladnoch Single Malts across different ages, cask treatments and styles.

There’s also dinner from Outpost 36, so this is thankfully not one of those educational experiences where somebody hands you a cracker and calls it a pairing.

A Deep Dive Into Bladnoch

Bladnoch is one of Scotland’s historic Lowland distilleries, and this tasting gives guests a chance to work through a pretty serious cross-section of the lineup.

Jamie MacKenzie will lead the masterclass, covering different expressions and how age, maturation and cask influence change what ends up in the glass.

The tasting lineup includes:

  • Bladnoch Vinaya

  • Bladnoch Alinta

  • Bladnoch Samsara

  • Bladnoch Liora

  • Bladnoch 8 Year

  • Bladnoch 13 Year

  • Bladnoch 16 Year

  • Bladnoch 19 Year

  • Liquor Library Single Barrel — 9 Year Bourbon Barrel

That last pour is a special 9-year single barrel matured in a Bourbon barrel, giving the evening one more point of comparison alongside Bladnoch’s core and age-stated expressions.

If you like side-by-side whiskey tasting, this is the kind of lineup that gives you plenty to pay attention to.

Dinner by Outpost 36

The evening also includes a full dinner prepared by Outpost 36, bringing its ranch-to-table cooking back to the Whiskey Castle.

Between nine whisky expressions and dinner, this is less of a quick tasting and more of a full evening devoted to finding out exactly how nerdy you’re willing to get about Lowland Scotch.
